I made these rolls yesterday in preparation for some hamburgers for dinner.  Sometimes I make my own bread and sometimes I don’t.   Sometimes, time is limited and I buy them from the store.  Gasp!  In my former city girl life, I couldn’t imagine ever making my own hamburger rolls.  What?  Why in the heck would I do that when I can buy perfectly good rolls at the store on my way home from work after a 10 hour day, while wearing uncomfortable high heels?  There was really NO way I was going to be making any bread in that former life of mine. I wrote this in August, ’16 after the final day of BMT graduation weekend.  Seeing my son graduate and become a United States Airman was quite the experience.  I am proud to be an Air Force Mom! “Today, right before I had to say goodbye at Lackland Airfare Base to my newly graduated Airman son at the required 1800 hour, we sat quietly at a picnic table having some dinner and laughs after a very quick 4 days of partial freedom for him from training. The sun was shining, and young military women and men were busy with activities throughout the large base. There areRead More →

“Choose your friends wisely. They will bring you UP, or they will bring you DOWN.” I said that to my son when we lived in the big city pretty regularly. Enough that I’d receive the automated eye roll by the time he reached his late teenage years but also enough that i know he remembers it and perhaps, just perhaps he thinks about the character of people he calls his inner circle. I am pretty fortunate in that I met my best friend when we were young girls still and I would walk through fire for her to this day. She would do the same.Read More →

Most moms gets to the place eventually. The place where they’ve been replaced. Sigh. Last night was that time for me. I am an Air Force mom. “wingman, leader, warrior..I will never falter, and I will not fail!” My airman is flying home for a visit soon. When I asked him what time he would be in so that I can be at the airport on time, I saw it on his FaceTime face. He didn’t even have to say anything. I wasn’t the one that was going to pick him up. “Bu….t What do you mean? Ohhhh. I get it. Ok.” Ugg He’s beenRead More →

loaf Bread

This white loaf bread makes wonderful toast and sandwiches.  It has a very slight sweet taste and freezes well. White Loaf Bread Prep Time-15 minutes to mix and knead. 2 hours to rise. Bake Time-30 minutes Servings-Bakes two loafs in a 4 X 8 loaf pan. (I use metal loaf pans instead of glass. The metal seems to bake a better loaf.) This bread freezes well. This recipe is adapted from an “Amish Bread” recipe I located from an unknown source on Pinterest. White Loaf Bread-Big Sky Farmhouse 1-20-17   PrintWhite Loaf Bread-Big Sky Farmhouse Ingredients6 C. This banana bread is soft on the inside with slight crisp layer of bread crust goodness around the top.  So yummy and tender it is a favorite in our home.  It stays moist for up to 3 days and is heavenly warmed slightly with a pat of butter.  Enjoy!   PrintAmazing Banana Bread-Big Sky Farmhouse Ingredients6 Medium Bananas-frozen. This was my first post on this blog.  Quick (and super easy) Thai Coconut Shrimp Soup.  At the time, I was still trying to figure out how to take appropriate pics and basically did not know what the heck I was doing.  I am still there..partially…but who cares?  I am having a good time and being creative and making rockin’ food too.  The food pics are always improving and the food eating is always happening. LOL.   So, I asked my husband to pick a recipe from my Big Sky Farmhouse book yesterday to make for dinner.  He picked this one.  I didn’t get aRead More →

I have this friend named Karen. She was so right when she said, living in this rural farm environment that, “you need another man around.” My husband just informed me we need to move a new freezer in and everything needs to be moved from one to another. What? I was planning on relaxing in my robe while having peeled grapes fed to me today. That doesn’t fit into my plans. Living in the city, everything was made very easy for me. My recycling was picked up twice a month right at the curb. What? Yes. Right at the curb. Now we keep everything separatedRead More →

For the past week I’ve been creating names for my blog in my head only to have the dream of a cherished name dashed when I found it was already taken on Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, or Facebook. These are the big four right? “Your readers will expect to find you under the same name while searching for you on the net” I read. Hmmm. Okay. Well, this morning, I was thinking again while my husband watched his beloved business money network. I wish I could be more interested in watching news about the stock market but I am not. At all. (Laughing) My mind thinksRead More →
